How I can help

Therapy that works the way you do.

My approach is deeply collaborative and often creative. I use tools like my trusty whiteboard, visual aids, stories, and play to surface what's really going on — and to give you language and skills you can use outside the room.

Therapy for adults

One-on-one sessions for the patterns, transitions, and relationships you're ready to understand differently.

Therapy for teens & kids

Play-based and conversational sessions for kids 8–15 and teens navigating anxiety, ADHD, autism, or big feelings they don't yet have words for.

Couples counseling

Ninety-minute sessions to slow down the arguments, name the dynamics, and practice something new.

TTRPG group therapy

A signature offering: small-group tabletop RPG sessions as a certified Therapeutic Game Master — building social skills, conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and identity through play.

How I work

Narrative Therapy

We look at your life as a story — the themes, the characters, the chapters — and decide together which parts are worth rewriting.

Synergetic Play Therapy

For kids: play is the language. We use it to build tolerance for hard feelings and confidence that they're capable.

Therapeutic Game Master (TTRPG)

Certified group work using tabletop role-playing to practice real-world skills in a safe imaginary space.

About Ben

From filmmaker to therapist: still in the business of stories.

I'm Ben — a former filmmaker turned therapist. I work with adults, teens, and kids navigating anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, and the relationships that shape us. Together we'll uncover the themes, values, and motivations that drive you — and author the chapter that comes next.

I bring out people's confidence and expressivity by helping them understand the story they're living — how their brain works, how their body responds, and what they actually feel underneath the noise. I model emotional regulation in the room. I teach that self-compassion is just self-understanding. And I foster the creativity and imagination people need to actualize the life they want.

With kids, I do this through play — because play is how children practice dealing with obstacles, frustrations, and the feelings that come with them. Imaginative play lets kids explore the relationships in their lives and respond to life's challenges on their own terms. In play, they get to be the director.

From clients

In their words.

If I didn't do this, I don't know where I would be. I just wish I had started this sooner.
It felt like a friendship — it felt personal. You cried with me. I feel like you really do care, and that helped me open up.
I've always felt like I could say anything. I've said things here I never told anyone.
You've never made me feel like I wasn't fixable. I felt like I could do it.

Good questions

FAQ

What happens in the free 15-minute consult?
We'll talk briefly about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping therapy could do, and whether I seem like a good fit. No pressure and no commitment — if I'm not the right therapist, I'll help point you toward someone who might be.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on what you're working on. Some people come for a few months to navigate a specific transition; others stay for a year or more doing deeper work. We'll revisit the arc together as we go.
Do you prescribe medication?
No — counselors don't prescribe medication. If we think medication might help, I can refer you to a psychiatrist or your primary care provider to discuss options.
What if my kid doesn't want to 'talk' about things?
That's pretty standard — and it's exactly why we use play. For kids, imaginative play is the language. We build the work around what they already know how to do.
What is TTRPG group therapy?
It's small-group tabletop role-playing (think Dungeons & Dragons) led by a certified Therapeutic Game Master. The game gives kids and teens a safe space to practice social skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, and identity — in-character, then out. Learn more about D&D →
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I see clients virtually throughout Colorado in addition to in-person sessions in Uptown Denver, Lakewood, and Cherry Creek.
